Arts and Media Basics: Folklife Resources
Maritime Folklife in Lincoln County Content Standards Connections
This unit is very adaptable and supports student learning toward the content standards in a number of ways. The strongest connections are in social sciences and the arts.
The Arts

- observe and respond to work by traditional artists from Lincoln County.
- identify maritime folk and traditional arts and their role within a regional community.
- explain how folk and traditional arts reflect and artist's personal experiences as well as his or her occupational, regional or cultural background.

- identify regional characteristics of Lincoln Country and its population.
- research in-depth a topic related to the unit.

- use books, newspaper articles, internet resources, videos, and cassettes to acquire additional information about topics related to the unit.
