Notes:
- Reading Knowledge
and Skills tests are required for students in grades 4,
6, and 7. These tests may be taken through TESA or paper/pencil
testing. Preliminary performance standards have been established
for use in the 2004 - 2005 school year. Preliminary standards
will be reviewed and revised as needed. Final performance
standards will be recommended to the State Board in June
2005. Preliminary performance standards for the State Reading
Knowledge and Skills test consist of the following:

- Although work samples
are not required to meet state standards in reading during
the 2004 - 2005 school year, work samples can be scored
as follows. All work samples are scored using the official
state scoring guide.

For Benchmark 1: |

Reading Accuracy: |
A score of 90% or higher. |
|
Oral Fluency: |
A score of 4 or higher. |
|
Retelling/Comprehension: |
A score of 4 or higher. |
For Benchmark 2, Benchmark 3, and the CIM Benchmark:

Comprehension: |
A score of 4 or higher. |
|
Extending Understanding: |
A score of 4 or higher. |
|
Text Analysis: |
A score of four or higher. |
