In July of 1999, She transferred to Youth Corrections Education at Oak Creek serving as school secretary for four campuses of Lochner School. In September of 2002 the title of registrar was also added to her duties. Deb starts work as COOLSchool registrar and secretary on July 1, and will also be serving as the OPENC Clearinghouse secretary. She also works as an on call police dispatcher for the Lebanon Police Department since September of 1992. Her rare spare time that she has includes following her son's Western Baptist College soccer team around to all of their games. In 1990, he earned his certification in elementary education, was a classroom teacher in Newberg SD and was later hired as their technology coordinator. Since December of 1996, Dennis has been on staff as the OPENC Clearinghouse coordinator. He holds a master's degree in information technology. His research project posed the question: Is it possible that the Master WEBster Competition, a statewide Web-based contest developed as part of the OPENC Web site, can be used to indicate the state of technology use and integration in Oregon's K-12 public schools? 905 4th Avenue SE Albany, OR 97321-3199 541-812-2621: Voice 541-926-6047: Fax Josh Hough serves OPENC as instructional technology specialist with a focus on designing and writing for Web applications. He joined the Clearinghouse staff in 2000 after studying Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon, where he gained a wealth of experience in writing and designing for print, Web and multimedia, as well as system administration in Windows, Mac, and Unix environments. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in East Africa, teaching ESL and French. Marilyn was co-creator of the JITT site and was actively involved in development of the OPENC/OSLIS projects. Her responsibilities for OPENC include project documentation, site maintenance, and quality control. Other interests include photography, writing, and gardening "to maintain my sanity." Marilyn has been part of the OPENC project since its inception in the winter of 1996. She holds a BA in French from Whitman College. School District 4J 200 North Monroe Eugene, OR 97402 541-687-3602: Voice Shelly Peng is the programmer and database administrator for all of OPEN's Web applications, arriving just in time for David Giffin's departure in early 2001. Shelly holds master's degrees in computer science and chemistry from the University of Massachusetts and University of Texas, respectively. Her 15 years of industry experience include work for IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Fujitsu. Originally from Taiwan, she brings her Asian heritage to expression in well-liked, spicy, tofu dishes, and brilliantly flowing patchwork quilts. Shelly lives in Corvallis with her husband and three children and spends her spare time speaking at a local Toastmaster's club and reading up on Chinese cultural trends. 905 4th Avenue SE Albany, OR 97321-3199 541-812-2627: Voice 541-926-6047: Fax Susan Waddell is OPENC Clearinghouse's co-director and the director of COOLSchool (Online courses for K-12 students). In addition to her role with OPEN, Susan is LBL ESD's Electronic Learning Department director. She began her education career as a middle school science and math teacher. In 1989, she began performing administrative work as an assistant principal at Eugene's Sheldon High School. Subsequently, she served as a middle school principal, elementary principal, district curriculum coordinator, and consultant on school improvement issues. Susan's favorite outdoor activity is downhill skiing, which includes five years on National Ski Patrol.
